First of all, the population difference between Kenya and New Zealand are huge. According to numbers from snl.no, all though Kenya is about twice the size of New Zealand in areal, the Kenyan population is 9 times (!) bigger. This is a factor that I definitely think affects the living conditions and the values of the country. Furthermore the climate also influences the living conditions in different ways. For instance, an average New Zealander consumes about 90% more money on electricity and oil than an average Kenyan. This might not be a bomb. Because while Kenya's laying on equator, New Zealand is almost as south as Norway is north.

However, according to a report from Credit Suisse, New Zealand is also the country that have experienced the most growth in wealth in the world since the millennium break. On the other hand you have Kenya. Kenya may be associated as a country filled with poverty and hunger, but this is not a cause of Kenya being a poor nation. It is a cause of the distribution of the goods. Kenya has actually one of the strongest east-African economy's, but it's estimated that the 20% richest people run away with over half of the money. This ends up in a very divided land, and the estimated length of life become 63 years contra 80 in New Zealand.

Once again I must say that New Zealand reminds me of Norway. Not only is the population and the living conditions similar, but the economy and GDP can also be compared.
