A National Hero

Every country around the world have their own heroes. People who have helped the country or have done something for the country. In this blog post we are going to look at one hero from Kenya, New Zealand and Norway. Of course they have more then one hero, but I tried to take one of the most famous ones.   

Kenya:
Kubu Kubu was one of the main people who got Kenya independent from UK. His name means "heavy thud" which means that he is heavy built. That was something he lived up to. But he is not a kind person as you think. Before he started to help Kenya, he had been a war leader. The person who sends out soldiers to war and first and for most he start wars. After he had got Kenya its independence, he got hunted down by colonists. They found him close to a school called Muagari Primary School. When they found him they tied his hands and set his body on fire. They forced the women and children to watch it and the women had to clap their hands while his body turned into ashes. Later in the 1990´s the former Runyenjens legislator Stanley Nyagha organized his people to build a Primary School in memory in for his death. The school was build where he lived his last minuets.

New Zealand:
Maurice Wilkins was one of the scientist that helped and worked out the discovery of DNA. He started his career at a school in England called King Edvard´s School at an impressive age at 11 years old. Later he got opted for physics at St. John´s collage in Cambridge, but it was not before he was doing his Ph.D under the University of Birmingham that his research came to a solution. After all the years of researching he found out about DNA. How it worked and how you could mix them. He also won a Nobel Prize for his discovery. He past away in 2004 at an age of 84.

Norway:
Roald Amundsen was the first man to have a successful trip to the south pole. Someone called Robert Scott also wanted to be the first man on the south pole, so the expedition became a race. The arctic expedition was from 1910-1912. On the expedition they took with them 52 dogs and four sledges, but not enough food for the whole trip. Because he wanted to kill and eat some of the dogs through the expedition. Everything went well and they came back to Framheim on 25 of January 1912. The sad part is that they only had 11 out of 52 dogs left. Also that Robert Scott did not come back after the expedition. Amundsen became one of the most famous person in Norway. He died in 18th of June 1928 at an age of 55.
